Corrupt Oil Cartels Abstract

Petroleum, some people call it, Black Gold. Oil runs our daily lives, we made it habit to use it every single day, without oil, we would go school or work in a car, we would have electricity in order to our alarm clock to sound in the morning or to take a nice warm shower, or even have light to see. The U.S. consumes one fourth of all oil consumed in the world, with more than 20,000,000 bbl/day (barrels per day)most of the U.S. oil comes from exports, one of them being PEMEX, Mexico's state owned oil company, being the 6th largest in the world, which 82% of their exports is exported to the U.S.

In the early 1930s people were striking foreign owned oil companies in Mexico, for an increase in pay and social service. In the result of that in1938 President Lazaro Cardenas, nationalized Mexican oil, every single drop of crude oil inside the country was Federal property, even to this date, creating one oil company and making it the 5th largest oil exporter company in the world. Many people want to privatize Pemex, like Carlos Slim, George Bush, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, but the president always denied it, is not an option to privatized Pemex, and it will not benefit the country.

Since Pemex is run by the government, and Mexico being a corrupted country, Pemex officials steal from the company which means that they are stealing from the country. Billions of dollars are stolen from Pemex, and Mexican cartels steal directly from Pemex’s pipelines, there is a estimated that more than 350 million of dollars are stolen each year from Mexican cartels. If they are stealing from PEMEX means that they are stealing from Mexico, so not only the company is losing money but also the country. 40% of Mexico's income come from PEMEX.
Most of the oil from Mexico was exported, instead of using it in the country, and since oil was becoming a need for the country, Mexico nationalized their oil, in order to control their oil and have more oil, but now there are stealing oil inside the company, billions of dollars are stolen from Pemex by Pemex officials.

Food Project Post

1) Why do people choose to eat products that are unhealthy for them? (food stuffs)
Because they are good and/or cheap, also time is part of it, if people want some thing fast and cheap, people choose to go to a Jack in a Box or a McDonald's. People choose to eat cheap and save money rather than eat healthy. Normaly unhealthy food is good, everybody enjoys a bag of Flaming Hot Cheetos or Doritos, or a really sweet Hershey's bar. People don't choose to eat unhealthy, they eat unhealthy food because they are cheap, convenient and good.

2) What roles/responsibilities does the gov't have in framing your choice? (Should they be responsible for educating us? should they be responsible for managing all products we consume? GM included, plastic chemicals - poisonous additives)
The governments job, is for they citizens to have a good and safe life, but they are doing the oppiset thing, they only care about money, so instead of their people being healthy they allow certain cheap and unhealthy food to be on the market, so than the people never stop buying so that the government receive more money, is the government responsibility to regulate this products and educate us about this products, but is our responsibility to be healthy or not.

Social Deviance Project

Social Deviance Project

Operation.
We used a camera to record secretly peoples reactions. One variable was the time that we went to Ikea. First thing when it opened so this meant that there wouldn't be that many people passing by. Another variable was how close we placed Juan to the main thoroughfare of Ikea. It would have been better to have more time after ten o'clock sot hat we could gather more observations on more people. Unfortunately We had to change our original experiment to this because of too many cops on the trolleys. This was an unpredictable variable in our previous experiment.

Findings and Analysis
We observed that the majority of people did not even look over. We had only 1 person at Ikea and when we tried it briefly at Lowes the employees looked over and said "Hi, Comfy?" and kept on going. We thought that more people would notice a kid sleeping on a couch in a store possibly kick us out of the store.

Hypothesis
If someone were to sleep on the furniture at Ikea, people will look at you with a strange stare because at Ikea the purpose is to simply try out and look at the furniture, not to sleep on the items.

Research Design (Research Method)
A experimental observation was used, the design however can be redone by setting up more cameras and changing the date of the experiment and the time of day, another possibility that could help argue the hypothesis further would have been to sleep on something that was more visible and stood out more to peoples eyes. Only a select few were tested during the experiment, it was the few that went into the store and walked around however we had a minimal amount of people due to the fact that we had to film the experiment in the morning which is not the best time to find an enormous amount of people going into the store. It is very likely that the findings can be generalized to other populations because it is the same store and the same rules for every store and the same norms with the store.

Research Problem
Is not normal seeing some one sleeping on a bed in a furniture store, actually you never see a person doing that. It is only abnormal because no body does that, is not a crime nether there is nothing wrong with it, is only that society never does that., first of all mostly everyone has a bed in their house and second the store closes at a certain time. The propose of the research is to capture the reactions of the people shopping in there while they see one of our teammates sleeping on a bed inside the store.

Summary and Conclusion
In our experiment we got reactions from people inside the store that we expected, we tought that an employe was going to wake Juan up kick him out of the store. The experiment was done in the morning exactly when the store opened, so there were many people inside the store, maybe we could have got different results if we have done the experiment were the store had more clients.

Flting Barder

In our class we have to write a story based on a picture from Jan Von Holleben, which uses teh grund as a background, like the sky or space. We have to write about a picture with a boy with a tubart flying with a dog, so we have to assume that the dag was anme Barder and the turbat make the dog or the boy fly.

One day, TYommy was walking home from school, he lived to blocks away from his school. When this old man with a long white beard appeard in front of him, and give him this little bottle with purple dust. Tummy ask him -What is this mister?- the old man responded -that Tommy, will make you do the thing that you always wanted to do, but you have to spreaded to the thing that you love the most- and out of nowhere the oldman disapears.

Tommy always wanted to fly, like int he movie E.T. with the bike. He arrives at his house, and immidietly went to his backyard and spreaded the dust to his dof Barder, the he mountend on him and nothing happend. Tommy still had ome dust left so he went inside to get his turbant he always wears at his house, he spreas on it puted on, he start jumping and still nothing.

Dissapointed that it didn't work, he wanted to try one lasting, wearing his turbant, he mounted on Barder and starts running, and suddently he starts flying, ammased in what was happeing, he felt that he was flying forever, the he started to hear his mother's vouce -Tommy... Tommy...- the he suddently realized that he was on the floor with Barder, it was only a dream, thaa the dust made his dream into a real dream.

Writting in Reverse

In our Government/Sociology class we had to write a story based on a picture taken by Bill Sullivan in his Turnstile Photography Project, so we had to chosse a picture and make a story in ending that story in how the person got into the turbstile or starting the sotry from that point. I chosse this picture...

Finally the morning that Ray was wating for 5 months, the day that the new album from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs was realesed. Ray is a college student majoring in computer enginnering, beacuse that is what he is best at, but his real pasion is music, he is always listening to music, when ever, whre wver, exept in school.
Ray's alarm sounded and quickly gets up and puts on his square blue shirt and gray pants for school. He only had 2 hours to buy the CD before school starts, so he puts on his clothes in secobds and quickly ran out the door. He started runing all desperate to the nearst Bestbuy, he arrive at the store but it opens in 15 minutes, out of breath he decided to wait. Very anxios he waited, seconds past by minutes and minutes like hours. Finally the amneger opens the store and Ray enters the store like a raging animal, and buys the CD. He desprettly opens it and puts it on his portable CD-player and starts jamming on his way to school, ont he sidewalk, at the bus stop, inside the bus at the subway station...

The U.S. steps in...

The United States has a very strong law with privacy and property in their country, and when another country has a problem, the U.S. just barge in the country and starts help the other country, when the other country didn’t ask for help in the first place. Since when the U.S. has the responsibility to take care of the other countries? Every country has the responsibility of their country, if a country ask for help, then it’s fine. The U.S. should not get involve in another’s country’s problem. A power country like the U.S. should only voluntary help other countries when a natural disaster happen in that country and the U.S. sends food, water and/or water or a rescue team to help the country, but not send the military in other country to salve a governmental problem.
